The glare she was shooting in his direction was hot enough to melt the coldest ice anywhere in the universe.

Anywhere but here, at least.

Harsh winds howled around them as they trudged through the valley, snow crunching underfoot with every step. Every wobble, in the Doctor's case. He resisted the urge to swear as he nearly lost his footing yet again.

River's own sure-footedness made the situation all the more maddening. She didn't even seem to need to watch where she was going, damn her. Instead, her eyes continued to bore into him.

Unable to bear the weight of her gaze a moment longer, he turned and glared back. "Okay, what is it," he asked, shouting to make himself heard over the gale.

"I told you that you should've let me drive," she yelled back.

"Is that what this is about?!"

"What do you think," River asked, arms crossed in front of her more to retain warmth than to express her annoyance. "If you'd allowed me to drive, we wouldn't have wound up stuck on an ice moon, would we?"

"What you do is not driving! You never drive! You're just...showing off."

"No, sweetie; showing off is your territory, not mine." She smiled sarcastically, and he almost grimaced. Sarcasm suited her to an absurd degree. "Now doesn't seem like the best time to throw a jealousy fit. I can't help it that your TARDIS likes me better than she likes you."

"She does not like you better! She's only tolerating your antics!"

"This, coming from a man who needs to have his license revoked!"

"Oh..." He ached to say something cutting in reply, but nothing sprang to mind. "Shut up," he finally settled for muttering as he turned away. The wind kicked up, knocking him to the ground.

"Honestly," he heard River sigh in exasperation. She dragged him upright, dusting the snow from his clothing--futilely; more soon took its place. "Try to keep up," she scolded, before marching off.

"And where the hell do you think you're..." He gave up, watching her walk away. Judging from her determined stride, she probably knew exactly where the TARDIS had turned up. Sighing in turn, he jogged and stumbled, trying to catch up with his stubborn--his possibly justifiably stubborn--wife.

The weather seemed to conspire to join in bringing about his embarrassment. Snow flurries parted like a curtain, revealing a familiar, longed-for blue object in the distance. River was standing before it, apparently unlocking the doors.

"Thank God," he mumbled to himself, the words almost lost to the winds. Relief sped him on, until they both stood within the TARDIS' more than welcome warmth. He ran to the console, determined to put several light-years between themselves and the iciness outside.

"Oh, no, you don't, dear," River announced, pushing him away from the controls. She pointed to the jump seat. "You. Sit. I'll handle things from here."

"What?! Absolutely not! I am not letting you take over," the Doctor insisted. "Neither is the TARDIS!"

"Ohh, that's what you think." River grinned wickedly, pushing him into the chair. "Make yourself comfortable; you're going to be here a while."

He struggled, startled, as he was swiftly immobilized. "Wait a minute! Since when does this seat have straps?!"

"Since now," she replied smugly, straightening. She winked. "I told you she liked me better."
