Title: 'Green Thumb'
Rating: G
Word Count: 249
Claim: Tegan Jovanka; 15 Prompt--General
Prompt: #11--Flowers
Notes/Warnings: None
Summary: "You are aware of the fact that I have a garden," he asked.
He stopped dead in his tracks the moment he entered the cloister room. "Tegan, what in the worlds are you doing?"
She looked up at the Doctor's startled query, smiling. "This room could use some brightening up." She'd found a pair of gardening gloves somewhere, along with several flower pots. "All this stonework and ivy...don't you think it's a little monotonous?"
Sighing, the Doctor slid his hands into the pockets of his trousers. "You are aware of the fact that I have a garden," he asked. "You could go there anytime you like. I'm sure you'd find it much more to your liking. This room was never intended for a greenhouse."
"You never told me you had a garden," Tegan accused mildly, rising from her crouched position over a few geraniums. "Why haven't I seen it?"
"Perhaps it's hiding from your zealous determination," the Doctor jokingly theorized, gazing at the trowel she was holding.
"Very funny, Doc. If your garden's anything like this room--"
"It isn't, I assure you. Oh, there are some sections that might appear overgrown, but they contain samples from several rain forests; many of the specimens went extinct long ago. Everything is automated, so you don't even need a green thumb to appreciate the flora."
"Well, I'm no botanist," Tegan admitted. "But I would like to see it."
The Doctor smiled. "Come along, then."
A few days later, he was only mildly surprised to see small blossoms growing among the ivy in the cloister room.
