He held still as Rory bound his hands behind him.
"What are we supposed to do with him," Amy wondered worriedly. "You can't just keep him, Doctor."
"You can't kill him, either," Rory pointed out, moving away from the now (hopefully) incapacitated Ganger. "It would be murder."
"But he isn't safe," Amy insisted.
"You don't understand," the Doctor put in. "Either of you. It's not the same as putting down a rabid dog. And it's not the same as murdering someone. The Ganger is Flesh, and that..." He rubbed the back of his neck, unsure. "Complicates things."
The Ganger sighed, impatient with how he was being treated as though he were absent. "Could the rabid dog please get a word in edgewise? Flesh or not, this is my fate you're trying to decide. Despite everything I've done, or tried to do, I think I deserve the consideration of being allowed to have my say in the matter!"
They turned to him, sharing guilty looks.
"We're sorry," the Doctor murmured. "You're right. Go on."
"Thank you, Doctor." The Ganger thought for a moment, feeling the weight of their eyes on him. "I can't promise you that I won't go on another rampage. Maybe I will; maybe I won't. In the next five minutes, I could very well kill all three of you. Even I have no way of knowing. But I do know that I'm unstable. Unsafe. Amy has a point: Your best bet would be to do away with me before I do any more harm." He smiled a little. "But I've got enough of the Doctor in me that I don't want that on your consciences. I also..." He gulped, fearful. "I also don't want either of you present when and if the time comes that I have to be killed. That isn't something that I want you to see."
"Fair enough," the Doctor put in. "Ponds, I'm taking you home. End of story; this isn't open to discussion. Whatever happens from now on between the Ganger and I, you are not to witness it." He threw a hand up, one finger extended, when Amy went to argue. "This isn't open to discussion," he repeated dangerously, silencing her before she could speak. "Do I make myself clear?"
Not bothering to wait for an answer, the Doctor turned his attention to the controls.
