Prompt: #05 - Body in the Library
Notes/Warnings: insp I love the way it's set out; the way it gets into every character. I wanted to try and do something similar because it is beautiful written, especially for a drabble. I just love it's style.
Summary: Just what does the body in the library mean to the Doctor?
Characters disclaimed.
River would assume it’s her. The Doctor first met her in the library, and it was the beginning of her end. She had to kill herself. She handcuffed him; stopping him from saving her. She was the first body in the library.
Amy wouldn’t know. She wouldn’t be the only one. They never travelled to a library. Museums, yes. And they were kind of like libraries, right? Probably how the Doctor kept score. She would guess it was a book.
Rory would be another who wouldn’t know. He would guess it was part of some murder mystery the Doctor got involved in. The Doctor made people take risk; he was dangerous to people. He would guess it was the Doctor who put the body there.
The Doctor knows the truth. He hopes to remain the only one who knows. His past his dark, but Rory is far out. Amy is always far out, but he admired her sweetness; seeing the best in him as always. River also had the wrong idea. Typical of River to make it about herself. The Doctor had a life before her, and after. The body in the library could have been anyone from anywhere.
It wasn’t a terrible secret the Doctor was hiding, but he still wouldn’t tell. The mystery around it simply an accident. But the Doctor liked to keep many things about him mysterious and this was just simply another one of those things.
All it was, if anything, was how he reminded the first trip in the TARDIS. No, no, he didn’t land her on someone. But it was a memory and a half, and he kept it dear. He never named his memoirs but if he did, he would entitle this particular one “The Body in The Library”.
